Can you fish in loch ness

Thread starter the white rabbit Start date Jul 18, Joined Jul 18, Messages 3. Going up to Loch Ness later in the year, and wanted to fish the loch. Does anyone know the rules as all i can find on the net is contradictory info. I understand if you fish from a boat you need a the boat to be permitted and from the bank the land owners permission. Then I read you need a permit to fish from the bank.

I'm afraid I don't have any good answers for you but I see you've been a couple of days without a response so maybe a wee bump to the top of the list will help! Is it trout you'll be after? The landowners next to the loch own the fishing rights for trout from their bank out to the centre of the loch.

You always require written permission to fish for trout in Scotland, whether from bank or boat. However, on a loch the size of Loch Ness, you'll be bound to find that lots of the owners just don't care. If nobody here comes up with some decent info, I suggest you give Grahams Fishing Tackle shop a call, in Inverness. They are the centre of all things fishing in the area and are bound to know what's what.
